Child Care Training

Pop-Up Child Care is operated on a cost-recovery basis. Any profit made is re-invested in training immigrant and refugee women through Pathways to Childcare Careers program.

Through the Pathways to Childcare Careers Program, newcomer women gain child care training with a trauma-informed approach. Participants receive Responsible Adult, Food Safe, and First Aid certifications, and develop advanced English and pre-employment skills.

  • Among the 2022-23 graduates, 41% are working on-call and 4 got hired by PIRS

  • Ongoing industry partnerships with Burnaby/Kiwassa/Kitsilano Neighborhood Houses, YWCA Metro Vancouver, ISS of BC, Cameray, and other non-profit organizations support this social project.
