Childminders/babysitters are only responsible for the physical and emotional well-being of the child in their care, rather than their overall development. Our Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) are teachers certified by a post secondary institution. They specialize in working with young children, from toddlers to children of up to six years of age. They provide nursing and instruction in basic aspects of formal education, and look at the different aspects of child development, health, nutrition, behaviour guidance in accordance with the Early Learning Framework.

We provide the equipment, toys, qualified child care staff, and fun activities.

Pop-Up Child Care is operated on cost-recovery basis. Any profit made is re-invested in training immigrant and refugee women through Pathways to Childcare Careers program. Childcare Fees for RAs/ECEAs* Regular working hours = $30/hour Irregular working hours (6 pm to 8 am and weekends) = $36/hour Childcare Fees for ECEs* Regular working hours = $35/hour Irregular working hours (6 pm to 8 am and weekends) = $42/hour *Childcare Worker Rate includes staff salaries, MERCs, pro-rated support staff wages and PIRS operational costs per worker. Other Fees: Coordination fee added to each booking = 20% of total cost (includes email to client, plan/schedule/coordinate with staff, handle booking logistics and client feedback/support) Last Minute on-demand booking fee (less than 48 hours) = additional 20% of total cost. Extra charges apply for special requests (e.g. transforming an empty space into a childminding space which includes equipment/toy rental and transportation cost, staff time to prepare/pick-up from storage/delivery, etc). According to licensing regulations, childminding must maintain a 1 staff to 8 units ratio. In general, units are determined by age: 3-12 years old = 1 unit 18 months old to below 3 years old = 2 units For example: 2 childcare staff for 16 units of 12 children four 2 year-old children = 8 units eight 3-12 year-old children = 8 units *Children younger than 18 months: ratio determined on a case-by-case basis. Normally need 1:1 support OR the child stays with the guardian. **Children who require adaptations or additional 1:1 support: ratio determined on a case-by-case basis.

The minimum work shift is 3 hours including set-up and cleanup time. Shift work more than 5 hours until 8 hours requires a 30-min break (unpaid if they’re not required to work or be available to work).

We can 'pop-up' anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The space will determine the number of children that we can provide care to.

We appreciate as much notice as possible and require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.

We care for children from 16 months up to school age.

Our service is available 7 days a week, anytime during the day. A child must only be in care for a maximum of 4 hours. There must be a break time with a parent if care is required all-day.

All our Staff have a minimum of the Responsible Adult Training and a valid Criminal Record Check, First Aid and FoodSafe Certificates. Many of our staff have their full Early Childhood Education (ECE). All staff are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The parents must stay in the same building as the children. Parents must provide their child with a break every 4 hours. If a child is in need of toileting/diaper change or medical attention, a parent may be asked to assist our staff.
